Justice League (Snyder Cut)

Today I’m going to be talking about the Snyder Cut of Justice League. Now as a comic book nerd, when the Whedon version came out, I saw it on opening night and thought it was so cool. I’m a diehard DC fan, especially of Wonder Woman and so was very excited to see her again on the big screen. The first time I saw it for the experience but when watching it a second time, I realized it pretty much sucked and you can easily tell it was the work of 2 directors. Specifically I didn’t like the way he made Wonder Woman and Batman. He made them weak which doesn’t make sense. Wonder Woman is a Demi-Goddess and Batman is Batman. They make up the trinity of DC alongside Superman. In turn, with how weak he made Wonder Woman and Batman, the rest of the League was useless. However in the Snyder Cut, he righted the wrong and the League was restored to some glory, specifically Wonder Woman. With this version, we saw the appearance of Martian Manhunter, a Green Lantern, Darkseid and his generals Granny Goodness and Desaad. Plus how Jared Leto’s Joker was supposed to be. If you haven’t watched it yet, be warned that I just listed off spoilers but in this day and age, everyone should already know. If not, I apologize but you don’t have to continue. In the epilogue, we saw more of Knightmare Batman and by the looks of it, seemed the basis for the Injustice storyline. Lets just say, through this whole movie, I was grinning from ear to ear. It is 4 hours long but watching it, it didn’t feel like it. This was the version we should’ve received. It’s a shame that this version won’t be canon because honestly it is heads above way better than that atrocious Whedon version. Hopefully WB decides to release this to home media as well because if not, then it’ll be a shame once HBO Max pulls it off it’s app. I recommend you watch it ASAP because this is your only chance. Plus if you do, and there is enough fan feedback, WB might continue to listen. With that said, let’s continue.

Now the start of the Snyder Cut, starts with the final moments of the Superman Vs Devastator fight at the end of BVS. From there, we get a glimpse of what happened to the mother boxes and why Steppenwolf arrived. We even saw the battle that was discussed between Darkseid and his army against the alliance of Gods, Man, Amazons and Atlanteans, as well as a Green Lantern. It was really awesome to see Darkseid but was kind of disappointed with how he looked but still, we got him and he got his ass kicked. The Amazons actually put up a better fight against Steppenwolf and even have hope that they’ve defeated him. Speaking of Steppenwolf, he looks a lot better than he did in the Whedon version. They fleshed out Cyborg’s backstory more which means for sure there won’t be a solo Cyborg film which is fine because he’s not a character that needs a solo film. My only gripe with him in this version is they really made him just like Iron Man which is a far cry from the comic version or even Teen Titans version of him. A few small details that doesn’t affect the movie is the change in music but more importantly the little glimpse of K-Pop group BlackPink playing in the background which being a fan of them was a little disappointed but got over it pretty quickly. It wasn’t as funny but that’s alright. They made Aquaman more of a dick but also more badass. The biggest surprise was the appearance of Martian Manhunter and of course the epilogue scene of the potential Injustice storyline. I saw some complain about it being 4 hours but seriously, you’re all bitching about a 4 hour movie when all 3 Lord of the Rings movies combine for a whopping 12 hours. That’s literally 4 hours a movie. People literally complain about anything these days. Anyways take it from a comic book nerd, watch this movie before you miss out because we don’t know how long HBO Max will keep it on there and if WB will release it digitally and home media. This movie is by far the better version and hopefully WB let’s Snyder make a sequel.
