Now many may or may not hunt for platinum trophies but I do, I find entertainment in grinding for hours, doing everything possible in a game to get that sweet trophy fix on my PlayStation account. I only ever play a game to platinum status if I truly feel I can, hence forth the tale of LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4. Released June 25th, 2010 by Traveller’s Tales and Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment the game follows a comedic retelling of the first four Harry Potter movies, similar to TT’s LEGO Star Wars and Indiana Jones series. I have always grown up to love LEGO games since LEGO Star Wars, seemingly enough the games are fairly easy to platinum, just time consuming. So let’s break down what I went through on our newest segment called Platinum Tales.
My journey began with Hagrid and Potter tour around Diagon Alley, breaking things since everything is destructible. Now that is about as much effort I’m gonna put into this because you should know the story of Harry Potter but this game is no different from any other LEGO property, build, destroy, collect studs, repeat. Each movie is 6 levels long bringing you a total of 24 levels entirely, each very similar to the last but the fun of the game is the expansive world of Harry Potter which is lively, paintings do have life to them, ghost roam the cafeteria as students fill the halls of the school lobby. Now the game does a great job at slowly giving you spells, you start off with only Wingardium Leviosa and Lumos Solem but eventually will gain a few dozen different spells that help progress the game. I actually had already beat this game and nearly had the platinum beforehand but do too a glitch on Face of the Enemy I could not proceed since the three headed dog had bugged out and ruined my characters spawn, causing me to be out of the level every time I load; with no saves to fall back on I gave up until the game was in the 2020 Spring Sale (which I covered too).
I most likely spent around 20-30 hours completing LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4, I had many fun times in it especially as pictured exploring the Slytherin dorm with Snape who may have had his way with some students in a bath. But the game again is a easy platinum, just very drawn out so I suggest you watch a stream if you attempt to platinum it. Above all do not use cheats and make a save after chapter 1 is completed, cheats will glitch the game for trophies but the red power bricks are easy to find, I had nearly half of them by year 2. But this was a simple Platinum Tale, I will have another soon covering South Park: The Stick of Truth, but happy trophy hunting.
