26 Years of Dre Day (Musical Hippie History)

26 years ago (5/20/1992) Dr. Dre released Fuck wit Dre Day (And Everybody’s Celebratin’) as the second single to his iconic studio debut album “The Chronic”. Produced by Dre, this song served as a diss track towards former friend and label mate, Eric “Eazy-E” Wright and East Coast Rapper Tim Dog. March 14th , 1991 Tim Dog would release the infamous diss song, “Fuck Compton” which would go out to West Coast heavyweights N.W.A. and Michel’le. This would be the gasoline that helped fuel the East vs West Coast beef that would unfortunately last for years. Eazy-E would be the main target in this song as Dre had just left Ruthless Records due to financial tension and Suge Knight had just offered Dre along with former labelmate The D.O.C. a fat contract to come found the label. Dre is accompanied by a fresh Snoop Doggy Dogg that had just been introduced to the Rap game back on Dre’s “Deep Cover” which dropped in April of the same year.

“Bow wow wow yippy yo yippy ya, Doggy Dogg’s in the motherfuckin’ house.” And Snoop was indeed in the motherfucking house, the music video begins with Sleazy-E, a parody of Eazy-E signing a ridiculous contract to a fat and ripoff Jerry Heller. After e=being sent to find some talent Dre starts throwing shots, questioning who is down with E and how Dr. Dre is tired of Eazy, wanting to slap the taste out of his mouth and letting you know that E fucked with Dre so now it’s a must that he must fuck with you back. Just before Snoop Dogg enters a breakaway scene shows the fake Heller guranting millions to the artist Sleazy brought. Red dot on, Snoop follows and shows his teeth ripping into Tim Dog and Luke of 2 Live Crew. Salute to all apart of this song and the history with it, may Eazy-E and Tim Dog Rest In Piece.
