24 years of The Infamous (Musical Hippie History)

24 years ago (4/25/1995) Mobb Deep released their classic sophomore studio album, “The Infamous” on Loud Records. Produced by the Queensbridge duo, Matt Life, Schott Free and The Abstract, “The Infamous” would debut at number 15 on the US Billboard 200 and number 3 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts, it would also be certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The album saw the duo hit a more hardcore, gritty sound with harder beats, after minor success from their studio debut album, “Juvenile Hell” the duo channeled a more dark side in their music. Besides sound you may remember this LP for the singles, most notorious is the first single released, “Shook Ones PT. II” which has been used in media heavily over the past 24 years since release. The album also has gues features from the likes of Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Nas, Q-Tip and Big Noyd. This was actually the first guest appearance members of the Wu-Tang Clan made outside of the collectives 9 members solo albums since their foundation in 1992. Salute Mobb Deep for their impact in Rap and Hip-Hop, may Prodigy Rest In Power.
