24 Years of Tha Crossroads (Musical Hippie History)

24 years ago (4/23/1995) Bone Thugs-N-Harmony released “Tha Crossroads” as a single from their sophomore album, “E. 1999 Eternal” on Ruthless Records. Produced by Tony C (Remixed produced by DJ U-Neek), the song served originally as a dedication to the groups friend Wallace “Wally” Laird III but after the passing of the groups mentor, Eric “Eazy-E” Wright” on March 26th, 1995 the group included him in the song. If you listen to the original version the song has no mention of Eazy-E and is a completely different track, for North American releases track number 8 was “Tha Crossroads” while European release had a track 18 to the 17 tack LP which contained the original version of the song. In the music video you see multiple characters have a interaction with a large African male in a black coat and shades, a depiction of death who interacts with “Wally”, Uncle Charlie and a newborn baby who is later taken to a mountain with souls walking up to a beam of light, one of the souls being the late Eric Wright. Salute to Bone Thugs-N-Harmony for their impact in Rap and Hip-Hop, may Eric Wright and Wallace Laird III Rest In Peace.
